PATNA: Three persons including a girl matriculation examinee were killed in separate incidents of road mishaps in Patna district on Saturday.
In the first incident, a Class II student of Green Field School, Yashraj alias Gautam, was crushed to death by a tractor in Machua Toli locality under Danapur police station.
Police said the mishap occurred when Gautam was on way to his school from his residence at Machua Toli on foot.
A tractor knocked him down causing serious injuries. He was rushed to PMCH where he succumbed to his injuries.
Agitated over the incident, the locals assaulted the driver,
Shravan Kumar, and set the tractor ablaze. They also blocked the Patna-Danapur main road for one-and-a-half hours. The tractor driver was admitted to PMCH where his condition was stated to be serious.
In another incident, a matriculation examinee, Gazala, was crushed to death at Balkishanganj locality under Alamganj police station.
Police said the mishap took place when Gazala tried to get onto a motorcycle, but slipped and fell on the road. A bus crushed her resulting in her instant death.
The locals blocked the Ashok Raj Path and lifted the blockade only after the local police pacified them. Later, the Alamganj police seized the bus.
In the third incident, a youth, Bhanu Kuer, was killed when a vehicle knocked him down near Sabrina Lalo Kuer School under Athmalgola police station in Patna district.
Police said that Bhanu, a resident of Ramnagar diara, had come to the main road to see off someone. As he was crossing the road, a speeding vehicle knocked him down, resulting in his instant death. The driver sped away with the vehicle.
Irate locals blocked the main road. The villagers later lifted the blockade after the local police pacified them.
